-	In 1983 the Nevis Legal Department was established to advise The Nevis Island Administration on all legal matters, and to draft Ordinances, Statutory Rules and Regulations.
-	Nevis' local Magistrate Court has summary jurisdiction on certain civil and criminal matters, and also acts as a preliminary court for the Supreme Court.
-	The Constitution is the Supreme Law of St. Kitts and Nevis.
